MBA in Harvard : Fees, GMAT, GPA - All details of Harvard.
So, hey guys so far we have learned a lot about MBA in the US. Like school, salary, package, etc But today we will be mainly learning about MBA at Harvard because that is recognized all over the world. approximately, every student has this dream to switch their streams from engineering or IT job because they get bored and Harvard pretty much changes the game because that's like one of the best university for MBA in US. So without any further ado. Let's get started. The reason why I'm making this video is to tell you that Harvard, MIT are Universities which do not take slow workers and give fast workers Arpit correctly said that in the MBA US video that they take in hard- workers and give hard-workers So that's why I want to show you the average profiles of Harvard students what qualifications do they have and how their profile look like which make them eligible to be at Harvard.
So first of all, I want to share that this information is once again connected with the help of Shresth So he got into NYU. He also applied to Wharton so he's eligible to give you some counselling. So here's his number. You can definitely ping him anytime. So looking into the MB class of 2021 You can clearly see that around 10,000 students apply and around 900 to 1000 students get accepted So it means that acceptance rate is around 10% So it's fairly easy. No, that's absolutely not true Because Harvard is one of the most difficult business school to get into. there way above average Students are applying so you have to be like so smart to even consider applying so that's why you cannot even consider applying if your profile is not as good as the one I am showing. So you can clearly See that Harvard is pretty diverse You can see students from all around the world and as compared to MIT, I noticed that Like Asians are dominating because it is like STEM heavy institute, but that's not the case at Harvard So now let's look into the tuition fee at Harvard. So as we have already talked about in Georgetown University, so when I visited there I found out that most of the students are paying around $160,000 to $200,000, after scholarship $100,000 but at Havard, one year tuition fee is around Hundred and ten thousand dollars and if you have to multiply by 2 because MBA is usually finished in two years. So $220,000 so that becomes more than around 1.5 crores, so it could be around 1.8 crores So that's way too expensive, but you don't have to worry a lot about it You know, why because they will be giving a need place Scholarship or fellowship depending on your income, etc.
depending on your saving and according to those limits. You can maybe get like around $40,000 but very very expensive or 80,000 for a two-year program So that's why a lot of students applying to Harvard end up with a debt of around- - you can clearly see that average Harvard education debt is around a hundred thousand dollars. So it is a lot. So now getting back to the profile So the first important step to apply to Harvard is your GPA. so average GPA from US Institute's is out of four so out of 4, you should have a minimum 3.7 but in India, the GPA is out of 10 So you should give importance that in u.s It is very easy to get 4.0 GPA four out of four because I also have a 4.0 GPA but in India It's way more difficult So there an average IITian gets a 9.2, etc So due to this reason, if you have if your GPA is like close to eight, it should be good So you should be qualified to apply and if you cannot meet the requirements you can definitely compensate with your GMAT score so moving on with the education majors so you can clearly see that there distribution is even now because in MIT students go for STEM. But here you can see econ or business majors also stem and humanities. So overall it is very diverse So no matter what you're studying right now in your undergrad. You can definitely consider applying for MBA later on in your career So moving on with the minimum years of experience for Harvard. I have seen in India in IIMs, ISPs Average two to three years with the end experience, but Harvard has 5 years average there can be less or more.
So no five years of work experience means that you will not be eligible For need-based scholarship or need-based favour at Harvard. Because if you work in the US for 5 years you can probably save around $200,000 to $250,000 if you are spending it wisely But if you are applying from India, you could not do the same So if you are working in the US so it will be easier for you to pay as compared to in India and here I noticed that The industry is pretty much very diverse as well So you will see 15% consulting or 16% venture capital so it is not that Mainly engineering students or are coming from an IT job. so you will see a very diverse class in Harvard So that's a great thing but I noticed in IIM and ISP that the class is filled with IITians. and a lot of engineers so here you will get a lot of diversity So moving on to the next important step that is GMAT score It is kinda similar to GRE because it has quant and verbal section But before you even get confused by these score ranges. Because you would think that if your score is in this range, then I ma applicable for Harvard But that's not true because this score is relative So if you see at this chart, so this chart kind of simplifies because our GMAT score, is out of 800 So this chart kind of converts that so if your verbal score is around 42+, that makes it 95 percentile and if your quant score is about 50+ that will make you 94 percentile so 94% means that you are performing better than 94% of the people who took the test it means that if 100 people gave the test and if you get 95% you have performed better than 95 So that's what they want because average average students applying to Harvard for MBA are 95 percentile or even higher so usually your quant score should be 50-51 that is close to a hundred percent and Your verbal score should be 42 plus that is also very high So you have to work really hard towards your GMAT test So now going back to the score ranges You can once again clearly see that GMAT plus GPA is an integral part of your application so if both your scores are not good There's a possibility that they will not even open your application because if both the scores are good, you will approx get 50% chances increased to get an invite to be interviewed at Harvard for MBA so you have to pay a lot more attention Towards your scores and grades So now moving into the feeder companies so from which companies are students going to Harvard so the most popular company is McKinsey and company and I found it interesting that from UBER 11 students are going Compared to 22 students going from Facebook, Netflix, Google it would be due to high satisfaction levels there that they don't want to go for MBA or whatever reason so it means that if you are in the top three consulting companies or you have some consulting companies experience?
Then you have more chances of going into Harvard for sure. So looking into some popular university students in Harvard So I was surprised to see that IIT is in the list not just in the list But also above some Ivy League schools like Cornell and Brown So it was a bit shocking that but then I digested the fact because MIT also accept IITains in majority So it's kind of true for MBA students and Harvard as well But its clear that if you are form IIT or these top 10 schools your chances increase. But that doesn't guarantee admission because they also look into your overall profile and your personality, so that's why you have to show that you have a great personality in your essays and that can be shown with these three Main characteristics or you can say these ten grades So they also look how you have shown integrity in your company where you worked for telecom. How much impactful have you been. for example, if you worked in Google if If you have done a small project here So that will not be as valuable For them as compared to a work in a startup company where you increase 10% stocks to 100% or else from 10 dollar stocks to a 100 dollar stocks you have done, so that's a bigger impact as compared to a minor impact in the Google So these things are important and also creativity, community spirit These kind of traits are also very important which you can show with some like extracurriculars you can show that you are involved in your community and how much other things you do other than your work? So you have to perform the work-life balance meaning, you are balancing both sectors and doing something for your community for example, increasing the community or For example, you may have done some volunteer experience like growing trees in a community etcetera So this results in community bonding and involvement. So now finally if you feel that your profile is good You can finally consider paying 250 dollars To apply to Harvard because it's very expensive because I have seen that MBA applications are very extensive and are above $100 for masters it is $100 but, for MBA it is very expensive So you should not take risks, if your application is not competitive But now if your application is competitive You can finally work on your essays and letters of recommendation So for a letter of recommendation, I will give 2-3 tips it has to be general like like some letters of recommendation are generic that have only compliments So you can also take advantage and stand out in the crowd and write some flaws about you write how from your flaws you overcome the situation and made it appreciable. how you still have flaws, and how you are still working on it. So you can show these things that is different from like generic letter of recommendation and also some Harvard MBA essay tips So I will leave this link in the description below All the essay questions are given so you can read them and see how an Harvard MBA essay looks like from this, we get an overall understanding they want to see that you not a robot not just showing that I was an engineer and got bored and want to change my position You have to show more that being an engineer, I tried being a project manager But you couldn't do so.
So you want to gain the skills to be at Harvard so that you can become a better project manager so that you can change your field. So if you want to change to managing, you can mix your journey with it. and you can show it in a more exciting manner. that how you faced challenges And so that so a lot of questions are answered here so you can definitely go over it And then finally, I hope you will be interviewed at Harvard because getting interviewed is a big thing as well The interview acceptance rate, I think is 60% because everyone, does not get the chance to get interviewed and the interviews are quite tough So I wish you all the best.
I hope this video helps you out So thank you so much for watching and definitely even considered taking Consulting from Shresth and his number is in the description below and I will see you guys in the next one. Good-Bye.
